Open call for the international exhibition
Atelje 22, in cooperation with the cultural organization VOGA, is pleased to announce an open call for young people inviting them to apply for participation in the project called MINIMUM STANDARDS, which aims to gather and present works by artists from different Mediterranean countries as a part of the group exhibition. The exhibition will take place at one of the main squares in Bari - Piazza del Ferrarese, Italy.
As the pandemic has led to radical changes in our daily lives, overshadowing inequalities, conflicts and alienation in what we call “public”, MINIMUM STANDARDS suggests reflecting on what constitutes public space. Aiming for the possibilities of public space as an accessible and inclusive place for individual expression and collective thinking, we invite artists from Montenegro to provide insight into various modalities, arrangements and possibilities of reexamining what public space can be.
Each artist is asked to create a work that will later be presented on the 120x240 cm banners with a theme of their choice and under any of the possible conjugations: from urban topography to economic inequality, from gender discrimination to human fragility, from national politics to accessibility issue. Already existing works are also relevant. Banners will be placed on the building called Mercato del Pesce, which will house the first museum of modern art from 2022.
The costs of printing works by selected artists, their installation and media coverage will be covered by the organizers.
Who can apply
Call for applications is open to all artists living on the territory of Montenegro. The application should contain name and surname of the artist with a short biography, portfolio and a proposal of work with the specified dimensions. Selected artists will officially be published on our website.
