Project description:

“When you think of a ‘house’, you don't just think of a building, but also of the life context you feel you belong to deeply inside yourself while firmly tied to the various identity questions.”

As already scientifically explored, the design of the space in which we live influences our way of thinking and understanding (an example of Bentham’s Panopticon design). Following the light path of Michael Foucault and Gaston Bachelard, this project seeks to re-examine the relationship between the House and the Body. The house, here representing the topography of our intimacy, that is, a storing place for our memories and a residence place of our spirits and souls (Bachelard - The Poetics of Space) and the Body, representing a small utopian place from which people can speak, dream, imagine, perceive things in their own place and also deny them (Of Other Spaces, lecture 1967, Foucault). The project begins by analyzing the changes of one`s thoughts and behaviors in spaces one gets exposed to. The intention is to encourage participants to question the meaning of the House by returning to themselves through a relationship with the nature, by triggering a series of questions that have, as an aim to, explore the Body as a tool for mapping the world which is surrounding us.

The project`s realization is planned as a series of site specific, interactive installations created in the various cities in Montenegro, with the intention of reviving old, abandoned buildings, dilapidated streets and offering a new way of looking at them. The project envisages organizing round tables and meetings where you can talk to artists, workshops for the audience that will be welcomed to participate and explore new ways of perceiving and experiencing the relationship between the House and the Body.
